The Salima Second Grade Magistrate’s court has sentenced Yamikani Nyamulani 24, to 5 years Imprisonment with hard Labour for acts intended to cause grevious harm to Davison Gomonda 35, a motor cycle Kabanza operator and maliciously damaging his motorcycle in Salima.
According to assistant public relations officer for Salima police, Christopher Edward, State Prosecutor Sub-Inspector Winford Mawindo, told the court that on March 20, 2025, provided a lift to Nyamulani from mvera in Dowa heading Makiyoni in Salima.
“On their way, Nyamulani demanded to change the route of which the victim denied because he knew that the route was very risky. Nyamulani tried to convince him to offer an extra sum of K2, 000. 00 but Gomonda denied again.
“In reaction, Nyamulani heavily assaulted Gomonda and broke his leg as well as damaged the motorbike beyond repair,” Christopher said.
Appearing before court, Nyamulani pleads not guilty to the charge prompting the state to parade three witnesses who testified against him and the state plead for a stiffer punishment, citing that the offence was well planned and organized.
Although the convict asked for leniency, citing that he has a family to take care of, the Second Grade Magistrate Agness Chirambo concurred with the State and sentenced him to 5 years for acts intended to cause grevious harm and 2 years for malicious damage to run concurrently.
Nyamulani hails from Moya village, Traditional Authority Mwanza in Salima.
