Police in Salima have warned all stakeholders to refrain from any violent action during the campaign period.
The call comes in after the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has officially opened campaign period in preparation for September 16 general elections.
Salima Police Station officer, Gladwell Kubwalo says they are ready and prepared to ensure that there is peace in the district during the campaign period.
“We have trained and warned our officers to be professional enough and not to show favouritism or loyalty to any specific group, party, or ideology, rather than remaining neutral or impartial”, Kubwalo explained.
Kubwalo has also urged all stakeholders to engage the police on any issue that they feel will stir violence during campaign period so that peace should be maintained.
The campaign will run till 14th September, 2025.
