NBS Bank’s Salima Branch is taking proactive steps to support the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the district.
On Friday, the bank hosted a dinner with local SMEs to showcase its products and explain how they can access loans and expand their businesses.
Service Center Manager Treen Maurice disclosed that after presenting the Bank’s products, many business operators showed interest to transact with the bank.
Maurice also emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting retail SMEs, provided they have an account and transact with the bank.
“The intention behind the event was to network with various business people in Salima. We noticed that NBS Bank has a lot to offer, especially to SMEs.
“We explained various products and services that NBS Bank offers, and we are satisfied with the response from the SMEs. During the presentation, they asked questions, and after the presentation, many of them showed interest in opening accounts with us,” Maurice said.

Maurice stressing a point with SMEs.
In his remarks, John Chimuda, one of the entrepreneurs who attended the dinner, described the event as an eye-opener, saying they have been enlightened on some of the services that the bank offers that they were previously unaware of.
“They have not only explained how we can access loans but also how we can get forex for those involved in cross-border businesses,” Chimuda said.
The dinner was part of providing tailored financial solutions to SMEs, aligning with NBS’S broader strategy to promote economic growth and financial inclusion in Malawi.
