The Malawi Human Rights Commission has disclosed that it is working together with different stakeholders in the country to deal with sexual discrimination and harassment in the health care system.
This was disclosed on Thursday during a capacity-building meeting for one-stop center officers aimed at viewing how different departments are faring in dealing with discrimination and sexual harassment in Salima District.
Executive secretary for the Malawi Human Rights Commission, Habiba Osman, says they will be frequently monitoring all the departments so that the meeting should bear positive fruits.
She has further disclosed that Salima is one of the districts with a high number of early pregnancies, which she said is a worrisome issue, but she was quick to mention that the meeting will help to reduce the data.
In his remarks, Inspector Francisco Chisomo from Salima police has described the meeting as a significant step, as it will help them to serve people accordingly.
Different departments, such as health, police, and social welfare, just to mention a few, were present at the meeting.
