Government Committed to deal with fake degrees.

Minister of Higher Education Dr. Jessie Kabwila has expressed government commitment to deal with issuance of fake degrees as they pose a threat to the country’s education sector.

Kabwira made the remarks during a press conference at the ministry’s headquarters in Lilongwe where she outlined various interventions that have been put in place to address the issue.

She has since asked education institutions, regulatory bodies and the public to join hands with government to end the vice.

“By doing so, we can ensure that genuine academic achievements are recognized and valued, fostering a culture of excellence in education.

“We must take a stand against fake degrees to protect the future of our youth and the integrity of our educational system. It’s time to rebuild trust in our institutions and ensure that hard work and genuine accomplishment are what truly matter,” Kabwila said.

In her remarks, Chief Executive officer for the National Council for Higher Education  Dr. Ambumilire Phiri said despite undermining the value of legitimate qualifications, fake degrees also the workforce and the society at large.
