The remains of late Senior Chief Ndindi of Salima district, who died in the wee hours of Tuesday, have been laid to rest today at Ndindi Headquarters.

In his eulogy, Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda described the late Senior Chief as peace loving leader who was passionate about development of his area.

Banda asked that the succession of the chieftaincy be done without favor and discrimination but following all required procedures.

“We know him; he was a peace-loving leader. We expect that you appoint someone with good qualities, and we should not see quarrels,” Banda said.

Member of Parliament for Salima South, Christopher Manja, said the late Ndindi will be remembered for promoting peace and harmony among his subjects.

Manja said it is sad that the chief has left while some other developments he championed and fought for, like Chipoka City and Court, have not been completed.

Born Juma Matola M’bwana, Senior Chief Ndindi was born on 12th July 1948 and was aged 77 at his time of passing and is survived with a wife and ten children.

He was installed as Traditional Authority on 30th July 2015 and promoted to Senior Chief on 31st May 2023.
